How to sell preloved clothes online in Pakistan

7 min read · Updated 20 September 2026

Almost every household in Pakistan has a cupboard of clothes nobody wears — outgrown, bought wrong, worn twice at a wedding. Selling them online is the easiest side income there is, but the difference between a listing that sells in two days and one that sits for two months comes down to a handful of things you control. Here is what actually matters.

Start with what sells fastest

If you are starting out, list the items buyers search for most, not the ones you most want gone. Branded pieces in good condition, unstitched suits, kids' clothes, winter coats and formal wear move quickly because people search for them by name.

Very worn basics — plain shirts, stretched t-shirts, anything with visible staining — are the hardest to sell at any price. Donate those instead and spend your effort on the pieces that will actually earn.

  • Branded clothing in like-new or gently used condition
  • Unstitched and semi-stitched suits
  • Kids and baby clothes, especially bundles by size
  • Winter wear: coats, jackets, shawls
  • Formal and party wear worn once or twice
  • Bags, shoes and accessories from recognisable brands

Photograph in daylight, against a plain wall

Photos decide whether anyone taps your listing. You do not need a camera — a phone near a window in the morning beats any indoor bulb, which yellows fabric and hides the real colour.

Shoot four to six photos: the full item flat or on a hanger, the fabric close up, the brand label, and an honest close-up of any flaw. Showing the flaw is not a weakness. It is the single best way to avoid a refused delivery later, and buyers trust a seller who points things out before being asked.

Price it against what it will fetch, not what it cost

A useful starting point for preloved clothing in good condition is roughly a quarter to a third of what the item costs new today, adjusted for condition and brand. Pieces still carrying tags can ask more; anything worn heavily should ask much less.

Look at what comparable items are listed for before you decide. If your item has been up for a few weeks with views but no orders, the price is the problem — views mean people found it and passed.

Write the title the way buyers search

Buyers type what they want, brand first: "Khaadi lawn suit medium", "Nike shoes size 42", "baby winter jacket 1 year". A title like "beautiful dress ❤️" matches nothing anyone actually searches.

Put the brand, the item, the size and the colour in the title, and keep the emoji and the sales pitch out of it. In the description, add measurements. For preloved clothing, measurements taken flat — chest, length, waist, sleeve — prevent more returns than any other single thing you can write.

Be straight about condition

Condition is the one place where sellers lose money by being optimistic. A "like new" item that arrives with a faded collar becomes a refused delivery, and with cash on delivery you absorb the return leg for nothing.

Use the condition grades literally: brand new with tags, brand new without tags, like new, gently used, used, well worn. When in doubt, grade down. An item that arrives better than described is how you get a repeat buyer.

Pack it so it survives the courier

Fold the item, put it in a plastic bag against rain, then into a flyer or box. Clothing rarely breaks, but it does arrive damp or grubby if the packaging fails, and that becomes a return.

Write the order number on the parcel, keep the receipt from the courier, and hand over the parcel the same day you confirm the order. Speed is the thing buyers remember and mention in reviews.

Getting the first sale

A new shop with no reviews needs a reason to be trusted. Three things do most of the work: a complete shop profile with a real name and city, a decent number of listings rather than one lonely item, and a fast reply to questions.

Share your listings where you already have an audience — your WhatsApp status, an Instagram story, a family group. Early orders from people who know you build the reviews that convince strangers later.

Common questions

Do I need to register a business to sell preloved clothes online in Pakistan?
No. Individuals can list and sell their own used items on ThriftStore.pk without registering a business. You only need a working phone number, an address for pickup and a way to be paid.
How do I get paid with cash on delivery?
The courier collects the cash from the buyer on delivery and the amount is remitted to you afterwards, minus delivery charges. You do not need a card or a payment gateway to start.
What should I do if a buyer refuses the delivery?
Refused deliveries are part of selling with cash on delivery. The parcel comes back to you and the item can be relisted. Accurate photos, honest condition grading and measurements in the description are what keep refusals rare.
